Hi everyone, we had such a bad connection from the boat, I have not been ablt to update you. Never fear, I will send pictures and comments when we get back.

We are in the Venice airport on our way home. We sailed through a hurrican to get to Venice and then last night survived an earthquake. No quake damage in Venice and we are all doing great.

Meaningful Stones

We docked at Gythion, Greece, on Monday, and took a short bus ride to Olympia, the site of the first Olympic games. Really old stuff and lots of interesting history.

We learned that in the original games, only men were allowed to compete. The athletes were naked to make sure they were all men and not women trying to impersonate men to get  into the games. Just imagine the wrestling event - well, better off not to. No women were allowed to attend either, such a waste of a good show!

So, we are looking over our deck to the jacuzzi below. We see a couple there with very little on. Mom turns to us and says " there is virtue in covering up".

This is Denise and her husband Buzz. This is his first cruise. We're very pleased with how well he is adapting!

She looks Greek to me

This is my sister Denise. She did her student teaching semester here 40 years ago. She looked Greek then and I think she still looks Greek - in a very good way!

It's Saturday and we have done our quick tour of Athens and are on the dock getting ready to board the boat. Too excited!!!

We can see the Parthanon from our room. We are all dressed up, watching a riot/protest on the square in Athens and getting some good ideas for later - the boys have been warned!

Hi all, we are at JFK and ready to go. Mom is relaxed and ready for her adventure.

Hi all our followers!
Tomorrow we leave for our long awaited cruise from Athens to Venice. We are all packed and ready.

Next time I post we should all be in Greece. I will take pictures of our journey.
